Day 2

Our day started off with a rockin’ party – a welcome to the community complete with fireworks, “tostadas” (chips and guacamole), and meeting the family and community members. After that, we went to work. A few superlatives on the day –

Gold Star: Joel for actually having experience with block work and getting our day running smoothly.

The Vamanos Award: The only word our Gold Star winner knows in Spanish means, “let’s go.” The Vamanos award goes to the mortar mixing crew for shorting their breaks so the block layers never went a minute without mud.

Quote of the Day: Goes to Kiersten Witte for wisely saying, “maybe tomorrow Opa should actually work harder than Oma.”

After a long day of work, we ended with dinner and the wonderful opportunity to hear Fito share his story. Here’s to another great day!
