Hinsdale Day 2: A date, a dance, and a lot of Guatemala

Today we gave the group a taste of Guatemala. We started with a trip to Fito’s church which was not only a worship experience, but also a cultural experience (more cultural for those who don’t know Spanish). The church kindly greeted us, introduced us in front of all 5,000 people there, and prepared a snack for us after the service. Can’t deny Guatemalan hospitality!

From there, we headed into the historical center of Guatemala City where we had a delicious lunch (see the date picture below), explored the pedestrian avenue (see the dancing picture), saw the national cathedral, and learned an overview of Guatemalan history.

After that, back to Semilla, where the group is staying, for some down time, a work preparation meeting, dinner, and from there…I leave them to either sleep or not 🙂

Tomorrow work starts! The groups will be divided in two – one working on a concrete block house, the other pouring concrete floors. Pray for safety and good working conditions – not too hot or rainy, more specifically!
